There are four simple steps you can take right now to support your mental health and wellbeing during this transition.

If you’re planning on taking parental leave, watch this to get a brief overview on what you need to do to manage this transition well.

Check in with your manager

If you’re planning to return to work (or even if you haven’t decided yet), it’s good to make time for regular check-ins with your employer. This will help you stay across any changes to the organisation, and help prepare you for the transition back to the workforce if and when you’re ready.

For breastfeeding parents, when you’re ready to return to work, you may need to talk with your employer about managing breastfeeding so they can best support your journey and meet their employer obligations.

Check your wellbeing

Perinatal mental health distress can happen at any time from expecting through to your baby’s first birthday and beyond. Familiarise yourself with the signs. You can assess your risk of anxiety and stress by setting up a profile, and using our free self-assessment tool
