Set healthy boundaries
It’s not easy running a business and being a parent. Setting healthy – and realistic– boundaries is one way to help alleviate some of your stressors.
What those boundaries look like is up to you. You may want to communicate to your staff if and when you’re available to be contacted outside of your hours, and how you prefer that contact to occur. You may also want to start thinking about any responsibility you can delegate to your team – but remember to make sure they’re clear on when something needs to come to you.
You may also want to think about any home boundaries you want to put in place that will allow you to manage your work and home life well. Maybe you agree to not check your emails until after baby is in bed. Or perhaps you agree to be home early, provided you can carve out an hour in the evening to catch up on work. If you are setting home boundaries and you have a partner, it’s good to talk with them about these so you’re both in agreement.
